Install the app

Installing Work Item Selector into Jira Cloud from the Atlassian Marketplace, confirming it worked, and what happens when the licence lapses.

What the video shows
  1. Open the Oktul Work Item Selector for Jira listing on the Atlassian Marketplace.
  2. Select Try it free.
  3. Choose your site. The dialog lists the Atlassian apps the trial installs on.
  4. A site or Atlassian app administrator selects Install app.
  5. Anyone else sees that only administrators can install Marketplace apps, and selects Request app for an administrator to approve.

Work Item Selector is a Forge app. It adds two custom field types to your site and runs entirely on Atlassian. Jira Cloud only: no Data Center or Server version is planned.

Requirements

  • Any Jira Cloud application (including collections and standalone products)
  • Site or Atlassian app administrator permission

Install it

  1. Open the Marketplace listing

    Two field types ship together in the one application, one single select and one multi select.

  2. Select Try it free, at the top right

    Evaluation runs through Atlassian rather than through Oktul.

  3. Choose your site in the dialog, then Install app

    Only a site or Atlassian app administrator can install; anyone else sees Request app. It takes up to a minute. Work items that already hold values are indexed during the install.

  4. Use the field

    Create it, scope it, and put it on a screen. See set up the field.

Confirm it worked

In Settings (gear icon), Work items, Fields, select Create new field. You should see Oktul Work Item Selector (Single Select) and (Multi select). In Estonian they are (üksikvalik) and (mitmikvalik).

Next, set up the field. It offers nothing until it has a JQL scope.

Language

The app follows each person’s profile language: English or Estonian, otherwise English.

Always in English: backend error messages, the Automation audit log and the validator’s default block messages. Text an administrator writes is shown as written.

Licensing, and what happens when it lapses

Paid and licensed per installation through the Atlassian Marketplace.

Without an active subscription:

  • The picker, the work item view, the configuration screen and the Automation action are blocked, and each points to Apps, Manage apps.
  • Search suggestions and the JQL functions return nothing, so filters and boards show no results and no error.
What a lapsed licence leaves alone
  • Workflow transitions still succeed, so a billing lapse is not a site outage.
  • Background indexing keeps running, so relationships are correct when the licence returns.
  • Selections stay intact. Nothing writes or clears a value, except one thing: deleting a link the app created still removes that work item from the field.

Removing the app

Field values go with the field type

Uninstalling removes both field types and their values. Reinstall within 30 days to get the values back; after that Atlassian deletes them. Export anything you need first.

Field context configuration comes back if you reinstall within 21 days. Oktul keeps nothing outside Atlassian. See privacy and data handling.
